Having looked at MANY other options for surveillance solutions I opted for the Ubiquiti UVC-G3 for two simple reasons.
1.) Simple integration and setup. The self-discovery mode is flawless, and the NVR software is free to install on any PC (Windows/ Linux).
2.) The wiring. PowerOverEthernet is clearly the way forward, and make leveraging existing cable runs or ethernet port outlets easy. No need to run coax everywhere again.
Next step is to expand the UVC-G3 deployment and probably install a dedicated NVR. The latter may be a mute topic as I see people developing Docker Containers for them at present.
